Matcha Green Tea Latte Recipe

I'm trying to make better choices in my food and drinks.  I switched from a sugary instant coffee mix in the evenings to a sugar free hot chocolate mix recipe, and sometimes I make this matcha green tea latte recipe.  I like this recipe because I can serve it hot or cold, so I can enjoy it all year long.  Matcha green tea has many heath benefits, so I'm drinking something healthy too.  It's simple to make and just takes a few minutes to whip up.

This recipe calls for sugar, but you can use a substitute if you'd prefer.

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon matcha green tea powder
  • 2 teaspoon sugar or sweetener
  • 3 tablespoons warm water
  • 1 cup cold milk or 1 ½ cups hot milk

Directions

  1. Place matcha green tea powder and sugar in a cup.
  2. Add warm water and mix well with a spoon or whisk.  It will get lumpy, but keep mixing until it is a paste.
  3. Warm the milk in a pan over low heat and pour in to the matcha mixture.  Or use cold water for a cool drink.
  4. Sprinkle some extra powder on top if desired.  If serving cold, you can pour over ice.
Aside from the many health benefits, this matcha green tea latte recipe is really easy to make and tastes great!
