How to make a homemade sugar free hot cocoa mix with Stevia.  This is easy to make, and it's it's low calorie and low carb.

Me and carbs are not friends.  My body revolts when I have too much sugar or carbs.  I've had to give up a lot of my favorite foods, but luckily I've found ways to make them sugar free.

This sugar free hot cocoa mix recipe with stevia is one of my favorite drink recipes.  It has about 5 calories per serving, so I can sip a hot cup of hot chocolate in the evenings without the side effects of the sugar.

This is also really good to use in hot chocolate bombs, and it's what I use to make mine.

Sugar Free Hot Cocoa Mix Recipe With Stevia

In the evenings, my husband and I will have a cup of tea or hot chocolate when the weather gets cold. If I get a sweet craving, it's usually in the evening just before I go to bed.

Drinking hot chocolate satisfies my craving with fewer calories, but I wanted to omit the excess sugar too.

This sugar free hot cocoa mix recipe with stevia only has 5 calories per cup, so I can have a cup a few nights a week without worrying about excess sugar!

Is It Better to Make Hot Chocolate Mix With Water or Milk?

This sugar free hot chocolate mix recipe can be made with either milk or water.  If you make it with milk, it will add some calories and sugar.

You can use almond milk or any cow's milk.

If you make it with water, it is still good, but it will be very thin and not very creamy.

I've been known to use half water and half milk.  It just depends on what I've eaten that day.

How Long Does Hot Cocoa Mix Last?

This sugar free hot cocoa mix recipe with stevia will last about 6 to 12 months.  Store it in a cool, dry place in a container with a lid.

Best Cocoa Powder for Sugar Free Hot Cocoa Mix Recipe

The better the chocolate you buy, the better your sugar free hot chocolate mix recipe will be.  While I'll use an off brand cocoa powder for baking, I do splurge on the better stuff for making hot cocoa.

I really like Nestle cocoa powder or Ghiradelli cocoa powder.  Both have great flavors for making a sugar free hot chocolate mix recipe.

Cocoa powder is naturally sugar free, so you don't need to worry about getting extra calories from the cocoa powder.

Sweetener

I used stevia for my sugar free hot chocolate mix recipe.  It's important to use a granule stevia and not the liquid drops.  To use liquid, make the recipe and omit the stevia and add it to the cup when you make it.

If you want to use another sugar substitute, then you will have to convert it.

Dry Milk

I use nonfat dry milk, but I use milk to make my sugar free hot cocoa mix recipe with stevia.  You can also use powdered coconut milk for a vegan alternative.

If you plan to make this with water, I recommend a whole milk dry milk for better results.

You can also use powdered coffee creamer for up to half of the dry milk.  This will make your sugar free hot cocoa mix recipe with stevia taste richer, but it may add calories or sugar.

Using Sugar Free Hot Cocoa Mix in Hot Chocolate Bombs

You can absolutely use this sugar free hot chocolate mix recipe to make hot chocolate bombs.  I use it when I make mine.

Just know that the chocolate shell won't be sugar free unless you use sugar free chocolate to make yours.
