Rose Petal Toner with Apple Cider Vinegar

A rose petal toner is a simple way to use roses into your natural skin care routine. Made with rose infused apple cider vinegar, this DIY toner can be used for both facial care and scalp care, making it a versatile addition to your natural living toolkit.

You can turn a rose petal infused apple cider vinegar into an easy DIY rose toner.  I'll also give you tips for storage, use, and ingredient benefits.

Rose Petal Toner with Apple Cider Vinegar

Toners are typically used after cleansing to help refresh the skin and prepare it for oils or moisturizers. A rose vinegar toner is especially popular in natural skin care because it’s customizable, budget‑friendly, and made with minimal ingredients.

Roses have a long history of use in beauty rituals, and when paired with diluted apple cider vinegar, they create a botanical toner that fits beautifully into a low‑waste, DIY lifestyle.

Ingredient Benefits

Rose Petals

Rose petals are prized in natural beauty for their delicate aroma and gentle nature. They’re commonly used in skin care to add a luxurious feel and are well‑suited for facial and hair care products.

Rose petals are gentle and  soothing for your skin. They’re often used to help refresh the skin, support a balanced-looking complexion, and add a touch of hydration without feeling heavy.

Because roses are mild and non-stripping, they’re especially well suited for dry, sensitive, and mature skin, but they can also be enjoyed by normal and combination skin types.

We sell red rose petals on our website in 1 ounce package.  That's enough to make several DIY beauty recipes.  You can also find them on Etsy or Amazon.

Apple Cider Vinegar

When properly diluted, apple cider vinegar often used in toners and scalp rinses to leave skin and hair feeling fresh and balanced.

Both regular apple cider vinegar and varieties with “the mother” can be used, depending on personal preference.  I recommend using one with the mother for its additional benefits.

Distilled Water

Water dilutes the vinegar to make it suitable for topical use. Apple cider vinegar must be diluted to use on the skin, so it's important to add the water.

Distilled water is often preferred in DIY skin care to help extend shelf life, but filtered tap water can also be used.  If you use tap water, then I recommend boiling it and letting it cool completely before using.

Rose Petal Infused Apple Cider Vinegar

Before making your toner, you’ll need rose petal infused apple cider vinegar.

I use a small 6‑ounce mason jar, filling it halfway with rose petals and the rest with apple cider vinegar. The mixture can be infused over time at room temperature or gently warmed to speed up the process.

DIY Rose Petal Toner Recipe

Supplies

Directions

1. You can strain the rose petals from the infused vinegar or leave them in. I chose to leave mine in because I enjoy the look and like allowing the roses to continue infusing.

2. Pour the rose‑infused apple cider vinegar into a small spray bottle until it’s about ⅓ full.

3. Fill the remainder of the spray bottle with water.

4. Secure the cap, shake well, and your toner is ready to use.

Tips for Using a Rose Toner

  • Always shake before use to evenly distribute the vinegar and water.
  • Apply with a reusable cotton round or spray directly onto the skin and gently pat dry.
  • Follow with a facial oil or moisturizer if desired.
  • For hair care, apply to the scalp and rinse or leave on briefly before washing, depending on preference.
