Best Essential Oils for Natural Acne Spot Treatment DIY

I used lavender and palmarosa for this blemish roller.  It smells great, and both oils help kill bacteria and other germs that can cause acne.  The lavender is also soothing for your skin.

To be honest, I would have never thought to use these oils in an essential oil blemish roller.  That's another reason I like the box is because their aromatherapists do a fantastic job at choosing oils for their recipes.

I recommend using lavender and palmarosa for the best acne spot treatment diy, but there are other essential oils that you can use.  Let's look at some oils and their benefits for acne, including the two that I used.

  • Lavender essential oil is naturally antimicrobial, so it can kill germs that cause acne.  Lavender is also a gentle oil that's often used on irritated skin to promote healing.
  • Palmarosa essential oil is also antimicrobial to kill germs.  It also helps remove dead skin cells and oils that can clog pores.
  • Thyme essential oil doesn't smell the best, but it can reduce the bacteria that causes acne.
  • Rosemary essential oil not only kills the bacteria that causes acne, but it also reduces redness and inflammation.
  • Tea tree oil is often used in an acne spot treatment DIY.  It kills germs and reduces inflammation.
  • Bergamot essential oil can reduce inflammation.  It can make your skin sensitive to the sun, so don't use during the day.

I also really like the Clear Skin blend, and I've used it to make an acne roller essential oils.  Clear Skin is I think better at reducing acne by get rid of the bacteria.  You can also buy a premade Clear Skin roller to use.

This blemish roller with lavender and palmarosa is more soothing while it works to reduce acne.

You can also use the Zit Fighter blend or the Zit Fighter roller bottle for an acne spot treatment.

Best Carrier Oils for Acne Roller Ball Recipe

I used sweet almond oil to make my essential oil blemish roller.  Sweet almond oil is an excellent all purpose carrier oil.  It's included with the Simply Earth bonus box that you get every 6 months, so you'll have this one if you subscribe.

You can also use one of the following carrier oils to make your essential oil acne roller ball:

  • Argan oil is a light oil, so it soaks into the skin quickly.  It's moisturizing without being too oily.
  • Rosehip seed oil is anti-inflammatory, so it can help reduce blemishes in an acne roller ball.
  • Grapeseed oil is also a dry oil, so it won't leave your skin oily.  It's inexpensive, too.
  • Jojoba oil is very close to your skin's natural oils, so it's often used for acne prone skin.

You want to use a carrier oil with a low comedogenic rating so it won't clog your pores.  You can get a free printable with common carrier oils and their properties, including comedogenic rating, when you subscribe to my newsletter.  If you don't want to join, you can also buy my carrier oils for essential oils printable in my shop.

Try using turmeric oil recipe to naturally reduce inflammation and promote healing.

Acne Roller Ball Dilution

It's important to dilute essential oils properly, and they must be diluted with a carrier oil.  There are different concentrations.  Generally, for the face I recommend 0.5 percent dilution.

However, this essential oil blemish roller is for spot treatments, so you can use a 1 percent dilution.  That would be 2 drops of essential oils per 10 ml of carrier oil.

Use an essential oil dilution chart to help you learn how much essential oil to use in your recipes.
