Top Beauty Picks for Fall

It's almost fall, y'all!  Fall is my favorite season.  I love the colors, the crisp air, the perfect temperatures, and bonfires.  The only problem with fall is that it's followed by winter, and I hate winter.  When I'm old, I'm definitely going to be a snow bird.

To get ready for fall, I'm featuring my favorite fall products.  During the summer, makeup is lighter, but fall brings us rich, gorgeous shades like purple, deep browns, and gold.  Here are my top picks for fall makeup.

Fall Boots to Splurge On

If I can't wear flip flops, then I'm wearing boots.  Maybe it's because I'm a country girl now, but there's just something about a good pair of boots!  These fall boots will look great with jeans and a cute top or a dress.  While I'm not opposed to wearing less expensive shoes, I do splurge on a few good pairs for each season.  Here are my favorite boots for this fall.

Skinny Piña Colada Smoothie Recipe

This skinny pina colada smoothie tastes amazing, and it's good for you too.  It's made with real fruit and coconut water for a healthy summer treat.

Life is full of choices.  Of course, we'd all like to make the choice that requires the least amount of effort.  It's much easier to grab a bag of chips for a snack than to wash and cut fresh vegetables, for example.

Luckily, not all healthy choices take more effect.  In fact, some are extremely easy to make, like switching soda for a healthy drink without sacrificing taste.

How to make a healthy pina colada smoothie recipe. This dairy free easy recipe can be mae with coconut water or coconut milk. This summer drinks can be made with rum or without alcohol for kids or for breakfast. Use Greek yogurt for protein and to make with with no banana. Or use a frozen banana for this blenders. This is the best skinny smoothie and it’s easy to make! #smoothie #pinacolada #pineapple #coconut

I don't drink a lot of soda, but in the heat of the summer, sometimes soda is the only thing that quenches my thirst.  I've been trying to drink tea instead.

When it's really hot, the kids like to enjoy some ice cream.  I really don't like ice cream, so I opt for this skinny pina colada smoothie recipe instead.  It's cold, quenches my thirst, and tastes amazing.

SKINNY PINA COLADA SMOOTHIE RECIPE

I don't drink often, but pina colada's are one of my favorite drinks.  Honestly, I prefer the taste more than the alcohol.

So I thought, why not just make a smoothie?  I get the taste of the drink without the alcohol and the extra sugar.

You can also add some alcohol to this smoothie recipe if you want.    It probably won't be a "skinny" smoothie, but it will be lighter than a regular drink.

This is a blender recipe, so make sure you have a good one.  I went through 2 mid range blenders from the big box store.  They don't have a lot of power.  Even worse, they only seemed to blend the bottom of the pitcher and the top didn't fall down like it should.

I upgraded to a Ninja Blender/ Food Processor.  I have a small kitchen, and this fits in the cupboard in a basket.

It does a fantastic job at blending and moving the food around.  It's a great price on Amazon, and I highly recommend it for smoothies and milkshakes.

PINEAPPLE

Instead of buying frozen pineapple, I buy pineapples when they are on sale and cut them up.  I put them on a cookie sheet to freeze, then I transfer them to a bag to freeze for later.

Freezing your own cut up fresh pineapple is cheaper, and it tastes so much better in this skinny pina colada smoothie recipe.

GREEK YOGURT OR BANANA

You can use either Greek yogurt or a banana in this recipe.  If you use yogurt, it should be from the fridge.  Freeze the banana for best results.

I don't like bananas, but it doesn't overwhelm the flavor.  If we have bananas that are going bad, I will freeze them and use them in this recipe so I don't waste them.

Using Greek yogurt gives you a little boost of protein, which is why I prefer it.

PINEAPPLE JUICE

Dole has 6 packs of small cans that are perfect for making this skinny pina colada recipe.  I could never use a whole can of juice before it went bad, so I buy the small cans.  They are shelf stable, too, so I can just keep them on the shelf.

They also have flavored pineapple drinks, so you can get a little creative with this recipe.

COCONUT MILK

I usually have coconut milk because I use it for coffee creamers and for cooking.

If you don't buy it, you can use coconut water.  Coconut water is like nature's Gatorade, and it's a great drink.  It's also shelf stable for several weeks or months.

Coconut water doesn't have as strong of a coconut flavor.  You may need to add just teensy bit of coconut extract to get the coconut flavor.

Trufora Skin Care Giveaway $380 Value

Thank you Trufora for providing the prize for this giveaway and offering me a set for review.  As always, all opinions are my own.

My birthday is one month from yesterday.  I'm not "get off my lawn" old, but it's getting closer each year.  I've taken great care of my skin and used sunscreen since I was a teenager, so I can't complain.  That doesn't mean I'm letting my guard down.  Oh, no.  I'm using anti-aging products now to prevent future damage.  I believe in growing old gracefully, but I will want to slow it down as much as I can, ya know?  That's why I was excited to review the Trufora 7 piece system.  Keep reading to learn about it, how it works, and enter for your chance to win one for yourself.

Ladies, let's talk personal.  If you've given birth, you know that it's an amazing experience.  You probably read all of the books and learned what's happening to your body and your baby during and after your pregnancy, but there's one thing the books don't tell you:  that after you give birth, you're more likely to have light bladder leakage (LBL).  One in three women have LBL, so you're definitely not alone!  Keep reading for the best option to use for LBL and what to do with your old period pads.

Chocolate Frappé Recipe with EAS Myoplex

If you or someone that you're close to has lost a lot of weight, you know the struggles before, during, and after the weight loss.  I'm not done losing, but I look and feel a lot better.  There's just one problem with losing a significant amount of weight;  Saggy skin.  One way I've been trying to combat the excess skin is by losing slowly, but that isn't always under my control.  My body likes to release fat all at once and then very, very slowly before it repeats this process.  My doctor and I agreed that it's time to build muscle.  This will help me look leaner, get healthier, and look better.  Keep reading for a delicious chocolate frappé recipe that has a boost of protein.

My husband is a smoker.  We don't allow smoking in the house or in the cars, so he has to go outside.  This is fine for him most of the year, but it gets very cold here in Ohio during the winter and very hot during the summer.  He recently switched to blu PLUS+ e-Cigs, so now he can smoke in the car and in the house.  There's more to take with you when you travel with a blu PLUS+ and tanks, so we made him a travel case from an eyeglass case.

Popcorn bars with M&M’S® Crispy - A delicious snack under 200 calories!

Do y'all remember M&M’S® Crispy? They looked like regular M&M’S®, but they had a crispy rice center.  If you don't remember them, please don't tell me because this means that either you are too young and that I am getting old or that you do not understand living 10 long years on this planet without  these little bites of heaven.  Tears may have been shed when I found out that these were no longer on the shelf.  I was pregnant all but 6 weeks of 2005, so I may have been a little hormonal anyway.  It's all good now because they are back!  I celebrated their return by making these popcorn bars with M&M’S® Crispy, peanuts, and popcorn.

Cooling Cucumber Facial Mask

How's your garden doing this year?  We had a lot of rain and got our garden in late, then we got even more rain.  Most of my friends had their gardens flooded out.  Our garden plot is heavy in clay and loam soil, so it has excellent drainage.  This means that I have cucumbers coming out of my ears.  We've had sliced cucumbers or cucumber salad as a side dish for dinner every night for three weeks, and I've canned 40 pints of pickles for this winter.  Naturally, I started looking for DIY beauty recipes like a cucumber sugar scrub and then I created this cooling cucumber mask.

What to Pack For a Weekend Trip

Friends, I am so excited that the hubs and I get to have a weekend trip for our anniversary this year!  We haven't had a weekend alone since our oldest, 13, was born.  I love my kids, but now that I am homeschooling all three of them, mom and dad need a weekend trip before school really starts.  Since it's been so long since we went anywhere, I didn't even know what to pack.  I want to be comfortable, but I don't want to take several suitcases to have all of my favorite things.  Here's my list of what I'm packing in my overnight bag for the weekend.

Rewarding Healthy Behavior + Cucumber Green Tea Sugar Scrub Recipe

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #RewardHealthyChoices #CollectiveBias

Not so long ago, back in the late 1990s, I was a junior in high school, and I was entering college as a full-time freshman.  I couldn't even drive a car legally, yet I was expected to know what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.  I had always loved science, so I was going to be a scientist.  Yes, your favorite blogger was almost a genetic engineer.  I took the necessary classes to fulfill my requirements, but since I was attending a local branch of a larger university, class choices were limited.  I filled my schedule with biology, chemistry, English, calculus, and psychology.  When I graduated high school and it was time to move on to a larger university away from home, I chose Ohio Wesleyan University because it was one of only a few colleges with a genetics major.  I loved being in the lab.  I loved learning about cell reproduction, chemistry, and all that the major entails.  But I loved psychology more.  Psychology just clicked with me.  I just intuitively knew it, and studying the names, years, and experiments was something that I loved.  Keep reading to see how I'm using psychology to live healthier and how I reward myself with a cucumber green tea sugar scrub.

Softening Beer Bath for Your Feet

Today, I've got another "crazy but true" recipes for you to try.  This one came about because I'm cheap frugal and don't like to be wasteful.  I had bought beer for a party that we had last summer, but I didn't realize that beer goes flat after just a few month.  I used a few bottles to cook with and do a beer hair rinse, but I still had a few left.  And that's how this recipe came to be!
