Bug Bite Relief Roller Bottle

Learn how to make an easy roller bottle for bumps, boo boos, and bug bites.  Get instant relief from mosquito bites with this easy to make roll on with a blend of essential oils to reduce itching and swelling.

My daughter is a mosquito magnet.  We've barely seen any mosquitoes this year, but she still manages to come in at night covered in bites.

Like her mother, she itches and scratches until she has welts that drive her crazy.  I've had a few get infected.  Believe me when I say that an infected mosquito bite is not fun!

This bumps, boo boos, and bug bite relief roller bottle is easy to make.  It's even easier to use: just roll on the affected area.

I even made a cute printable label for you to use.  I have one with the blend information if you use my blend, or you can print a blank one to label your roller bottle with.

This roller blend is also good for bumps and boo boos.  It has essential oils that promote healing and reduce inflammation so you  and your kids can get quick relief.

This is a must have for moms to keep their their purses.  I have one for on the go and one to use at home.

Bug Bite Relief Roller Bottle

Carrier Oil

I usually use fractionated coconut oil for my roller bottles.  FCO is clear, odorless, and inexpensive.

I also like how most brands have a pump.  This makes filling a small roller bottle a breeze without using a funnel.

Simply Earth also sells fractionated coconut oil.  You can get fractionated coconut oil, Bumps and Boo Boos essential oil blend, plus a few roller bottles and get free shipping on orders over $29.

You can also use sweet almond oil or just about any carrier oil except solid coconut oil.

Neem oil would be an excellent addition to this roller bottle for bug bites since it has some analgesic properties.  I would dilute it with another oil and use 25 to 50 percent neem oil.

You can learn more about the different types of carrier oils and their benefits in my book, Carrier Oils.

Best Essential Oils for Bug Bites

I was going to create my own blend for bug bites, but then I got the Bumps and Boo Boos Simply Earth blend in my June 2020 Essential Oil Recipe Box.

It has most of the oils that I was planning to use, so I used that.

If you're new to essential oils or looking to expand your collection, the recipe box is a great way to do it.  For $39 a month, you get four full sized oils and supplies to make 6 different recipes.

If you use my code EVERYTHINGPRETTYFREE when you order, you'll get a free bonus box with more supplies to make your recipes  plus a $40 gift card to use on a future purchase!

You can also order single oils (or blends).  They have great prices, and you get free shipping at $29.

Bumps and Boo Boos Blend

Bumps and Boo Boos is made for all kinds of skin irritations, and it's also good for bug bites.  I

It's made of:

  • Helichrysum
  • Lavender
  • Tea tree
  • Lemon
It's kid safe for kids 2 and older.  It may be slightly phototoxic, so don't apply it if you'll be in the sun.

You can also one of the following essential oils or a blend for bug bites.

Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender essential oil is a gentle oil, but it still needs to be diluted before using.  It is soothing on irritated skin.  It also has some natural pain relieving properties when used topically.

Lavender is naturally anti-inflammatory and a natural antiseptic.

Chamomile Essential Oil

Chamomile essential oil is an excellent oil for minor skin irritations.  It's soothing, and it can reduce irritation, itching, and redness.

It's also said to promote faster healing.

Peppermint Essential Oil

Peppermint essential oil feels cooling on the skin thanks to its menthol content.  It can help relieve itching almost immediately.  It's also a natural anti-inflammatory to reduce swelling.

Tea Tree Essential Oil

Tea tree essential oil is a great oil to kill germs.  It's naturally antiseptic, so it can help reduce the chance of a secondary infection.  It helps stop itching, too.

Rosemary Essential Oil

Rosemary essential oil is a natural anti-inflammatory.  It can help reduce swelling when applied topically.

Labels

I made a cute label for this blend.  You can print it on sticker paper and attach it to your bottle.

I just use regular sticker paper.  Then I cover the label with packing tape to to protect the label and protect it from water or oil damage.
