Lemon Mojito Sugar Scrub Recipe

It's no secret that I love sugar scrubs. I use one on my feet every other day to keep my heels soft. I use them on my skin about once a week to keep my skin from looking dull. In the summer, it's even more important to use one because the sweat from the heat can clog your skin. Besides that, in the summer I'm showing off more skin, so I want it to look its best. This lemon mojito sugar scrub recipe was inspired by a summer drink, and it smells wonderful all year round.

Sugar scrubs are also a great inexpensive gift to give to your friends. I used to make them for my kids' teachers when they were in public school. It's a unique gift that nearly any woman can use.

For this scrub, I used safflower oil and fractionated coconut oil. They are both lighter oils, so they don't leave an oily residue on your skin. You can substitute them for any liquid carrier oil or just use one carrier oil if you'd like.

Peppermint essential oil helps cool the skin. It is also a natural antiseptic, making this a great scrub for your feet.

Lemon essential oil is great for dull skin. It's a natural astringent, so it can perk up skin.

Lemon Mojito Sugar Scrub Ingredients

STEP 1

Combine the brown sugar and both of the oils and stir well. You can also use half white sugar for the brown sugar if you want a little more scrubbing power.

STEP 2

Add the essential oils and stir again.Spoon in to the jar.

STEP 3

Use about 1/4 cup of the scrub to gently slough off dead skin cells. You can use this on your hands, feet, or body, but don't use it on your face.

Rinse well.  The oil will moisturize your skin long after you rinse off the scrub, but you may also wash it off with a gentle soap if desired.
