Herbal Facial Steam Recipe

If you're looking for an easy and inexpensive spa quality treatment that you can do at home, look no further than a facial steam.  These herbal facial steam recipes can do wonders for your skin, no matter what type of skin you have.  The steam opens your pores to draw out impurities, improving your complexion.  It also improves circulation by increasing blood flow to your skin.  I have large pores, and few things work as well as a good steam to reduce my pore size.  You can customize the herbs to suit your taste and needs.  These recipes are just to get you started.  You can even steam your face with just plain water, but using the herbs gives you the benefits of the herbs without using expensive essential oils.

Herbal Facial Steam Recipe

Although just steaming your face can do wonders for your complexion, I have two herbal facial steam recipes that give your steam an extra boost.  Choose the right one for your skin type.  I have the herbs in parts because you can make as much or as little as you want.  You'll use about 1/2 cup of the herb mixture per steam, so you need to make at least that much.

Choose the recipe for your skin type and mix the herbs together. Store in a cool, dry place until ready to use.

Bring 2 quarts of water to a boil in a large pot on the stove,  Add about 1/2 cup of the herbs to the water and let simmer for a few minutes.

Remove the pot from heat and set on a hot pad on the counter or on a table.  Drape a thick towel over your head and lean over the water.  You don't need to be right over the water; you can be several inches away as long as the steam reaches your face.

Steam your face up to 10 minutes.  If you get too hot, lift the towel for some cooler air or take a breather.

Pat your skin dry.
