How to Whiten Sensitive Teeth + Honey and Brown Sugar Lip Scrub Recipe

Life is full of important choices.  Should I go for a walk or bike ride after dinner?  Should I have a salad or a sandwich for lunch?  Should I use a toothpaste for my sensitive teeth or a whitening toothpaste?  I can't help you with all of your tough decisions, but I can help you with your toothpaste.  If you have sensitive teeth, you don't have to choose between treating the sensitivity and using a whitening toothpaste because Sensodyne® True White® helps with both when used twice a day!  Keep reading to hear about my results after using it and a honey and brown sugar lip scrub to keep your new whiter smile looking great.

Honey and Brown Sugar Lip Scrub Recipe

My teeth weren't sensitive until a few years ago.  At first, cold foods and drinks bothered me.  Then warm foods did, and soon even sweet foods bothered my teeth.   I also have some staining because I drink coffee, but I found that home whitening products made my sensitivity worse.  For the last two years, I've just been using  Sensodyne® twice a day for my sensitivity.  When I found out about Sensodyne® True White®, I was really excited to try it.

What Causes Sensitive Teeth?

When the soft outer layer under your tooth enamel, called dentin, is exposed, your teeth get sensitive.  Dentin is made of many open tubes that lead right to the nerve of your tooth.  When the dentin is exposed, cold, hot, and sweet foods can reach the nerve and cause pain.
Sensodyne® True White® has Potassium Nitrate to target the nerve to stop it from sending a pain signal.  The toothpaste also has an inactive ingredient, Sodium Tripolyphosphate, to lift stains from your teeth and create a barrier for new stains.

Sensodyne® is the #1 recommended brand for sensitive teeth, and 9 out of 10 dentists recommend it for its proven active ingredient for sensitivity relief when used twice a day.  The Sensodyne® True White® formula is a breakthrough in whitening for sensitive teeth with 10x less abrasive than many leading whitening toothpastes.**

**Based on Relative Dentin Abrasivity testing against 15 products in the top 80% of the whitening toothpaste market

I'm happy to report that after using Sensodyne® True White® twice a day, I have noticed that my teeth are a little lighter.  I was using Sensodyne® twice a day before I switched to the Sensodyne® True White® formula, so I wasn't experiencing any tooth sensitivity.  The new formula seems to be working just as well as the old formula in that regards.

Honey and Brown Sugar Lip Scrub

Now that my teeth look and feel great, I want my whole smile to look good.  I use a lip scrub a few times a week to keep my lips soft and smooth, which helps my lipstick go on better too.  This is my favorite lip scrub recipe because it's so easy, and I always have the ingredients on hand.
Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon almond oil or other light oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Directions
1.  Mix all three ingredients in a small container.
2.  Stir well until the oil and honey are incorporated.  It will be very thick.
3.  Place about half of a teaspoon on your lips and gently rub in a circular motion up to two minutes.
4.  Wipe off and rinse your lips.

Store the leftover scrub in a covered container in the fridge up to a week.

If you want a better looking smile, try the new Sensodyne® True White® toothpaste with this $1 coupon.  You can find it at most major retailers for between $5.99 and $6.49.
