33 Healthy Popsicles Recipes for Kids and Adults

These health popsicles are all made with no refined sugar.  They are perfect for adults or children.

Summer means popsicles.  My kids will go through some popsicles!  I can barely keep the freezer stocked.

I don't like buying store bough treats because they are full of dyes and extra sugars.  Caleb can't have food dyes, and I don't like the extra sugar for any of my kids.

Now we make our own frozen treats.  All of these healthy popsicle recipes are easy to make, and you can make them when you have time to enjoy later

I like to use fresh fruit and even some veggies in my homemade frozen pops.  I know my boys don't eat enough fruits and veggies, unless ketchup counts, so this is a great way to sneak more nutrients into their bodies.

33 HEALTHY POPSICLE RECIPES FOR KIDS AND ADULTS

While I call this recipes for kids and adults, none are boozesicles.  I don't have anything against them, but these are all safe for kids and adults.

By adult popsicles, I just mean that these recipes are more complex than your basic frozen juice recipe.

HOMEMADE POPSICLE TIPS AND TRICKS

Making these healthy popsicle recipes is fairly easy, but here are some tips to help you

MOLDS

You can use one of several molds.  If you're new to making frozen treats at home, you can use paper cups with popsicle sticks.  You can also pour into a loaf pan and then slice and add sticks.  This method is pretty cumbersome, but it will work.

If you make a lot of popsicles at home, I recommend getting one or two sets of molds.  I like using a silicone mold because the pops come out easier and they are easier to clean.

I was using a mold with reusable sticks, but that's the first thing to get lost.  I switched to a silicone mold that uses wooden popsicle sticks.  It's just easier for us since we usually have pops on the patio.

I also like this type because I can take the pops out, put them in a separate bag, and make more pops.  This means we can have a few kinds in the freezer.

FILLING THE MOLD

When you fill the mold, leave about 1/4" headspace to allow the mixture to expand.  I always seem to spill, so I use a little funnel to fill my popsicle molds.

FREEZING

Place the popsicle mold in the back of your freezer, which is the coldest part of the freezer.  The faster they freeze, the fewer ice crystals you'll have.  Let them freeze for 4 to 8 hours.

UNMOLDING

Homemade popsicles can be hard to unmold because they stick to the mold.  Just run it under warm water for about 30 seconds and try again.
