Summer Beauty Tips

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Dollar General. All opinions are 100% mine.

This summer has been the hottest one in a few years in Ohio.  I'm so glad for the heat because we set up the pool, and we've been using it almost every day.  One thing that I don't like about summer is that it wrecks havoc on my beauty routine.  The humidity makes my hair puffy, and the hot temperatures make it harder to keep my makeup looking good.  Today I'll share with you some of my summer beauty tips for keeping your makeup looking good all day.

Dollar General helps me save money on my summer beauty essentials.
I live in the country, so most stores are at least half an hour from my house.  Luckily, there's a Dollar General in the small town that's close to me.  I love going there for groceries and things for the house, but I hadn't given it fair chance for my beauty products.  I'm as much of a fan of saving money as I am buying new products, so I decided to try their DG Body brand this summer.  Dollar General's DG body, DG health, DG home, DG baby, EverPet, and Clover Valley products have a 100 percent satisfaction guarantee, so I didn't have anything to lose. Learn more about DG brands and what products they have.

In the summer, I use a toner every morning and every night to remove the excess oil and debris from my pores.  This means I use quite a bit of cotton balls.  I switched to DG body cotton balls, and I love them.  They are the perfect size for swiping toner across my face.

Summer Makeup Prep

One of my favorite summer beauty tips is to use arrowroot powder to absorb excess sweat and moisture.  I dab it on my face before I use my primer, and it really helps extend the life of my makeup.  I was using a brush, but that was getting fairly messy.  I really like using these DG body cotton powder puffs.

Summer Touch Ups

Even though I prep my face with primer and arrowroot powder, not much can help my makeup when it's over 90 degrees and humid.  I use cotton swabs dipped in makeup remover to touch up melted makeup.  This works very well with eyeliner that has smudged or creased.  If I goof on my liner, I dip the swab in concealer or foundation to cover it up if I don't want to start all over.

Sun Protection

One of my biggest summer beauty tips is to use sunscreen.  I used to get a wonderful tan, but now I burn easily.  If I'll be outside for more than 15 minutes, I'm wearing sunscreen.  With the pool and our days at the lake this summer, we've all gone through a lot of sunscreen.  I love the DG body sunscreen because it's SPF 50 and has a spray that's so much easier to apply on myself and the kids.
I've been very happy with all of the Dollar General brands that I bought, and I saved almost 50 percent on the products that I bought.   Find other money saving deals at Dollar General so you can save money and look great.
