Can you think back to the first time you shaved your legs?  I can.  No one taught me how to shave my legs, so I just went for it.  I used a two blade razor and no shaving cream.  I'm sure you can imagine how that felt during shaving and for several days afterwards.  Even when I did learn how to shave my legs properly, I didn't like to do it because it still irritated my skin.  I thought that every razor that I used would be the same.  Then I partnered with Schick to take the Schick Hydro Silk 7 Day Shave Challenge.  I'll share with you my results, why I love Schick so much, and some tips on how to shave your legs.

How to Shave Your Legs With Less Irritation

How to Shave Your Legs

Don't Shave First

I used to shave my legs first in the shower, but you should wait 10 to 15 minutes before you shave so the warm water can soften your hair and open your follicles.  Don't wait too long, though, because you won't get a close shave if you want until about 20 minutes in to your shower.

Shave At Night

You'll get a closer shave in the evening because your legs swell slightly at night, which can cause the hair to go back in to the follicle.

Use Shaving Gel

It's tempting to grab a bar of soap, but soap doesn't provide enough lubrication between the razor and your skin, which can lead to irritation and nicks.  The new Skintimate Island Berry Breeze is a moisturizing shave gel, so your legs will be smoother and softer. The gel turns in to a lather so you can see where you've shaved already because shaving the same area twice can be quite irritating to your skin. I also like Skintimate Silky Skin because it has skin loving oils like Sunflower Seed Oil and Moroccan Oil along with Olive Butter and vitamin E.

Use the Right Razor

I remember using single and double bladed razors when I was a teenager, so it's no wonder I didn't like to shave! The Schick Hydro Silk Razor has five blades for a closer shave, and it hydrates your skin like no other razor can. Your skin will be silky smooth after every shave.

Change Your Blade

For less irritation and the closest shave, you'll want to replace your Hydro Silk blades after using it 5 to 10 times. Ladies, how many times have you been in the shower already before you remember that you need to refill your razor? The Schick Hydro Silk Shower Hanging Refills hang in your shower, so they are always within reach.
