How to Get Beach Waves On Short Hair with TRESemmé Perfectly (un)Done

Thank you to TRESemmé and Lunchbox for sponsoring today's post.  As always, all opinions are my own.

Right now, I'm wearing my hair in a slightly longer inverted bob.  I'm growing it out just a little to do an ombre brown and purple color.  My hair is really thick and curly, but I often use a flat iron to straighten it.  The beachy wave look is so popular lately, so I decided to to try it for a change.  I'd actually tried it a few times on my short hair, but it didn't work too well.  Oddly, even though my hair is naturally curly, it doesn't want to hold curl when I use heat.  Then I discovered TRESemmé  Perfectly (un)Done products.  Keep reading to see how I got beach waves on my short hair.

Walmart and TRESemmé are featuring three wavy looks: Hollywood Waves, Boho Waves, and Beachy Waves.  Head over and take a quiz to see which look is perfect for you.  Mine was beachy waves, so I bought the products and tried it out.

To prep my hair for waves, I used the Perfectly (un)Done Weightless Silicone-Free Shampoo and Conditioner.  They perfectly prepped my hair for this look!  I can't turn curls in to waves--trust me, I've tried!--so I blow dried my hair with a round brush to make it smoother.  It wasn't completely straight, but it helped a lot.

After my hair was dry, I sprayed Perfectly (un)Done Sea Salt Spray all over my hair and then let it air dry.  This spray gives your hair texture so the waves hold better.  For me, this was the most important thing to get waves in my stubborn hair.

I used my flat iron to create waves.  You want to add a little curl to the middle of your hair and not the top or the tips.  What I did was section off my hair.  Then I grabbed my hair in 2 inch sections because it's really thick and put my flat iron vertically on my hair about 2-3 inches away from my scalp.  Then I turned the straightener away from face and very slowly pulled it through my hair until I reached the bottom 1-2 inches.  This gave me a very loose wave.

After I made waves all over my head, I sprayed with Perfectly (un)Done Ultra Brushable Hairspray.  I used my fingers to loosen the waves and style my hair the way I wanted it. Notice that my waves aren't perfect, but that's okay with this style.  Remember it doesn't have to be perfect to be pretty!

That's it!  I was really surprised that this didn't take very long at all for such a cute style.  If you'd like to recreate the style at home for yourself, you can get a coupon for $2 off any TRESemme Wash an Care or styling product in your 5/17 Sunday paper.

I love how my highlights just pop with this look!  I'll definitely be wearing my hair like this more often.
