It's nearing 100 degrees today, so I am definitely going light on my makeup.  I switch from lipstick to lip gloss for the summer because it's lighter and the nice glow looks better with more natural makeup.

Lip gloss is very easy to make, and you can read a few recipes to get some ideas for customization.  Just have fun playing because you can really have fun experimenting.  Here is a collection of DIY lip gloss recipes perfect for summer!

DIY Lip Gloss Recipes

Birthday Cake Lip Gloss - This has coconut butter and shea butter to protect your lips from the sun.

Natural Lip Gloss - Use essential oils for natural flavor.

Kool Aid Lip Gloss - Very easy to make!

Custom Lip Gloss Recipe - Teaches you how to make DIY lip gloss with your favorite ingredients.

For a natural lip gloss recipe, use natural ingredients.  You can usually substitute coconut oil for petroleum, but you will need to test each recipe.  If you don't like the coconut flavor and scent, use refined coconut oil.  It doesn't have the same benefits for your skin as unrefined coconut oil, but it is healthier than petroleum.

Storebought lip glosses usually have chemicals and even alcohol in them.  The alcohol can irritate your lips and dry them out, which means you'll need to use more lip gloss.  It's a vicious cycle!

These are so easy to make!  My 6-year-old daughter loves to make lip gloss with me because she gets to get messy and make something fun.
