DIY Lime Mint Sugar Scrub Recipe

I don't know about you guys, but I am ready for spring and summer.  Each winter just seems to get a little longer, and it's only February.  We still have this month of bad weather, kinda bad weather in March, and then the muddy season until June.

I'm ready to trade all things pumpkin and peppermint for some fun fruity scents like lemon, lime, and fresh flowers.

That's why I made this DIY lime mint sugar scrub recipe.  I needed the uplifting citrus scent to improve my mood.

My skin can also use some TLC after running the furnace for months.  I've been using lotion at least twice a day, but my skin is just so dry.  The sugar helps slough off the dead skin cells, and the oils help moisturize your skin.

My skin is seriously dull looking, so I used two oils.  The coconut oil gives the scrub a little bit of bulk.  Grapeseed oil is a lighter oil, so it helps make the scrub not so greasy.  I will moisturize the skin, but I can go on with my day without getting everything that I touch oily after I use the scrub.

I don't always use food coloring in my scrubs, but I really wanted a fun spring color.  It's totally up to you!

I used the same amount of lime and peppermint essential oils, but you can use less of one and more of another, just make sure you use 10 drops in total.

INGREDIENTS

DIRECTIONS

STEP #1

If your coconut oil is hard, microwave it for about 10 seconds until soft enough to stir.

STEP #2

Combine sugar, coconut oil, and grapeseed and stir well.  You can add more grapeseed oil or sugar if it's not the right consistency.

STEP #3

Once you have the consistency right, add the essential oils and food coloring.  Stir well.

STEP #4

Scoop into a glass jar with a lid.

Scoop out about 1/3 of a cup and gently scrub your body in a circular motion.  Rinse well.

I don't use soap afterwards, but if you are too oily, you can use soap to wash it off.  Leaving the oil on your skin does help moisturize your skin though.

This scrub is great for your hands, feet, and body, but don't use it on your face because it can be too abrasive.
