How to Clean Your Makeup Brushes

Thank you Dove for partnering with me on this post. Visit your local retailer to pick up the Dove White Beauty Bar today!

I love beauty products that serve more than one purpose.  It saves me money and storage space, which is always at a premium.  I use my eyeshadow to fill in my brows so I don't have to purchase a powder just for my brows.  I use my flat iron to create beachy waves in my hair in the summer.  And I use the Dove White Beauty Bar as a body wash and to wash my makeup brushes.  Keep reading for a product that serves double duty for your skin and your makeup brushes.

How to Clean Your Makeup Brushes

How's your weather been?  Here in Ohio, our weather chart looks like a roller coaster with the highs and lows.  It's wrecking havoc on my skin, leaving it dry and itchy.   I can't use a soap because it leaves my skin so dry, but Dove White Beauty Bar isn't a soap.  Yes, it has DEFI technology, a blend of mild cleansers, to wash away dirt and grime, but it also has 1/4 moisturizing cream for soft, radiant skin.  It's so mild that my daughter with her extremely sensitive skin can use it too.  I love that it works well for your face and body, so there's one less product to keep in the shower.  It's hypoallergenic, noncomedogenic, and the #1 bar recommended by dermatologists.

I also use the Dove White Beauty Bar to clean my makeup brushes, and it does a better job than products made just for that purpose.  Without cleaning, makeup brushes accumulate makeup, oil, dirt, and bacteria.  They then transfer the icky things to your makeup and back on your face.  Ew!  If you're having problems with breakouts, it could be your makeup brushes.  Dirty makeup brushes can also ruin your makeup.  If you've bought an eyeshadow palette that cost more than your weekly food budget, you definitely want to take care of it.  Since the Dove White Beauty Bar has 1/4 moisturizing cream, it also keeps your brush bristles softer longer.

How to Clean Your Makeup Brushes

1.  One at a time, rinse your brushes under lukewarm water to remove loose makeup and dirt.

2.  Gently swipe the bristles over your Dove White Beauty Bar.  Be careful not to smash the bristles.

3.  Use your fingers to work the cleanser in to a lather and gently scrub the bristles.

4.  Rinse your brush well to remove all of the cleanser.

5.  Wrap a towel around the brush and gently squeeze out the excess water.  Do not rub the bristles as this can damage them.

6.  Lay your brushes flat to dry.

Plan on washing your makeup brushes weekly.  Even if you only use them a few times that week because bacteria can grow in your brushes, which can cause acne.
