Transitioning Your Beauty Routine From Summer to Fall + Pumpkin Pie Lip Scrub Recipe

Although my air conditioning is still running, the days are getting shorter and the leaves are starting to turn.  There's no denying it; it's almost fall.  Along with swapping my flip flops for boots and tank tops for longer sleeves, I also switch my makeup products.  In the summer, I'm more worried about preventing breakouts from sweating and increased oil, but in the fall and winter I have to change to moisturizing products so my skin doesn't dry out.  Keep reading to learn how I transition my beauty routine from summer to fall, including a moisturizing pumpkin pie lip scrub to prevent chapped lips.

Hair Repair

My hair gets damaged from the sun and swimming, so I take extra good care of my hair during the fall.  I use a hair mask with argan oil once a week.  Since summer is over, I only wash every two days and use a dry shampoo on the days I don't wash my hair.  This helps my hair because I'm using heat styling tools about half as much as I do in the summer.

Makeup Colors

Now is the time to swap my light colors and corals for burgundy and richer colors.  In the summer, I use eyeshadow to line my eyes for a more natural look, but for fall, I use a dark brown or black eyeliner.

Nails

In the summer, I like to use fun, bright colors.  This fall, I'll be using dove gray, moss green, and smokey purple shades.

Teeth

Although I'm a coffee addict all year round, I also add hot tea in the fall and winter.  I don't want my teeth stained, so I use Crest 3D White Brilliance Toothpaste System to keep my teeth looking great.  Since it replaces my regular toothpaste, it doesn't take any extra time in my morning routine.  Awesome!  It's a two step process.  The first step is a deep cleaning toothpaste.

The second step is a whitening finisher to polish your teeth.  Crest 3D White Brilliance Toothpaste System is so powerful that using it twice a day keeps your teeth 99 percent as white as a professional polish* at a fraction of the cost!

Exfoliate

I exfoliate all year because it keeps my skin looking amazing.  In the fall, I exfoliate twice a week because my skin gets so dry.  I like to use this DIY pumpkin pin sugar scrub recipe because it smells absolutely amazing!  My lips also get really dry and will flake, so I use this yummy  pumpkin pie lip scrub so they look great with my whiter teeth.

What You Need

  • 2 tablespoon honey
  • 4 tablespoons organic coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • Small container with a lid to store the scrub
Directions
  1. Combine honey and coconut oil in a glass jar.  If your coconut oil is hard, microwave for 20-30 seconds until melted.  Let cool slightly so the sugar doesn't dissolve when you add it.  Mine was half melted and the other half soft, so I did not melt mine.
  2. Mix well and let cool slightly so the sugar doesn't dissolve.  Add both sugars and spices.  Stir well.
  3. Use a small amount to gently scrub your lips in small circles.  Rinse well.  Use once or twice a week as needed to combat dry lips.
